While "only" the fifth largest ski resort in Colorado, it is one of the favorites due to the lower elevation of only 6,900 feet which allows for everyone to get acclimated quickly and avoid any altitude sickness. With almost 3,000 acres of skiable terrain, it has something for everyone due to the evenly distributed beginner to advanced runs, moguls combined with easy groomers, and the internationally recognized tree skiing.
As a year-round community, Steamboat offers much more than "just" being a ski resort. Our guests love that there is much to choose from so skiers and non-skiers, grandparents and grandchildren, and friends with varying interests can truly vacation together. Downtown is a mere three miles away from the base area so going "in to town" is not an all-day excursion but rather a nice quick jaunt to enjoy shopping or over 75 restaurants with a wide variety of offerings.
There is good reason our local motto is, "We came for the winter but stayed for the summer."
Steamboat experiences over 300 days of sunshine and blue skies. Everything that is available for one to do in the winter is available in the summer ...maybe with just fewer clothes and a different vehicle:
